Find Your Passion

"To be alive is to find your passion and pursue it with all your heart."

Passion can be defined in many different ways, and we show it through our own unique gifts, emotions, feelings, and/or desires. It has always been my passion to organize and plan my day so that I can get the very most out of it. I enjoy being productive and having lots of energy, and at the end of every day, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have accomplished everything that I set out to do? I think that deep down we all have a desire to make a difference and to know that we are fulfilling a purpose that is bigger than ourselves. It gives us the strength to get through any day with a feeling of genuine appreciation and accomplishment. Many of us can make a difference through words of encouragement, our testimonies, planning a fun event, or just taking the time to sit share, and listen. Whatever we love to do or whatever we are good at becomes our talent. It has always been my belief that when we help others, we are helping ourselves and living the life and character that God has created us to live. God wants us to live as Jesus did, loving one another and sharing our love especially with those who don't know a passion for Jesus. This will create in us the strongest, most emotional passion of love possible; and we should continue to search within ourselves to share His love daily.

“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:2 MSG)

What are you called to do? When you’re passionate about something, you don’t mind working hard at it. I love what Louis Giglio wrote in his book The Air I Breathe..."No wonder the whole world is filled with worshipers. Every last one of us has been created with a searching soul designed that way by God so that we would find no rest until we find our rest in Him." Our genuine beauty comes through our passionate desire to live a life with purpose, and we are fulfilled when we live out God’s plan for us. We must be willing to be exposed to many trials in order to discover our greatest passion. He knows what passions lie undiscovered, and He knows how deeply He must go to refine us. He has a call for each of us!  When we believe that we are here for a reason, we can release and let go of any doubts, reservations, or fear and grab hold of the talents we were destined to have. The end result is a life of peaceful love and accomplishment. We all have a passion within us, and we must allow God to reveal it!

“If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.” (2 Timothy 2:21 NLT)

  1. Wow I love your post! And the verse too! Thanks for posing this! :D

  2. Great post! I have struggled to find my passion the last few seems to be changing. I'll have to work more on that - thanks for the reminder.

  3. I love the post and the lovely colors you used. My passion in life is to see more people accept Jesus Christ. When I was younger I had many different passions but when you begin this journey with the Lord it's like all that changes it's like you want what ever God's is passionate about. I am passionate about His word and seeing people make good changes. Passionate about my family.

  4. I especially love the final verse you used! When we keep ourselves pure, we will be ready for God to use us to do great things for Him! I asked myself: Am I ready? I pray I am! I have some exciting things on the horizon. It seems that the Lord may be saying, "It is time -- I've got something for you to do!" I'm praying that as I humble myself before Him, He'll use me however He sees fit! Blessings!!

  5. Denise,

I love the scripture you used at the end, to keep ourselves pure to be ready to used by the Master. When we seek Him first and He will reveal the gift He has chosen for us.

    Blessings to you Denise.

  6. What a great post! God has given me a passion for something I never had given any thought to. That's how I know it's from Him. I did not go out looking for it, it was something I never dreamed of, and yet he keeps putting me out there where this passion continues to grow. If you know me, you know what that is. I pray I will be pure for Him and this place He has given me so I can continue to be used for Him and may glory all be for Him!

  7. I have a passion for teaching women about Christ and encouraging them whether it is in a class or with my blog.

  8. Love the message version of Romans 12 that you have here ... think i will have to share that this week. So good :)

  9. Talents are within all of us, and we do not recognize them at times, because we think they are not as professional and well sharpened as we view in others. We are called to use the oil and bit of meal that God has given us and bake our cake. Then we are amazed when we see that there is enough for tomorrow and is not spent.

  10. I can truly say that I found my passion (one I didn't know I had until God revealed it) through my pain. It was there that I met God and He transformed my thinking, which dramatically changed my life forever. I LOVE that quote by Louis. So true!!!
Blessings to you dear sister. Your words are such a strength to my faith walk.
    Blessings and hugs,

  11. What a great post! How did I miss it? Passion ...for years, I didn't know how to express it. I was too concerned with pleasing others. How sad is that? But the Lord gave me a passion for people. As a nurse for many years, I loved meeting new patients and their families. Many people so very important to me. In fact, a few of my very good friends are children of patients who have since died.

Fast forward to today and I find such a passion in working with little children. A completely different field of work but I love it. Children are not afraid to show love. I'm amazed at how God has blessed me with this at this time in my life. He knew just what I needed and when.

    Blessings and love,

  12. My passion is writing. Thanks for the post.
