“For
you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you
out of all of the peoples on the face of the earth to be His people, His
treasured possession.” (Deuteronomy 7:6)
There are times when it just seems that life has overlooked us!
A wonderful truth in the Bible (that always makes me feel
pretty exceptional and special!), is that we have been chosen by God to be a
part of His family! Most of us remember times when we have been “overlooked”;
when someone else has been chosen over us when sides were chosen for teams and
sports events; when someone else was chosen over us for a special dance or
party; or maybe a co-worker was chosen over us for an extra special
project. And regardless of what the
special event was (or is!) there is within us a desire to be chosen…
Chosen to belong…
Chosen to be
recognized…
Chosen to stand out
in the crowd…
Sadly
we can’t make everybody accept us or love us, but while others may reject us;
God does not! He hasn’t overlooked us; in fact He holds our future in the palm
of His hand!
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and
appointed you to go and bear fruit. (John 15:16)
When we feel left out or experience setbacks in life, we
have to remember that God is working behind the scenes for our future. He is
preparing opportunities with the right people, in the right place to cross our
path at the right time. Because with God we are all chosen and none are
excluded! He doesn’t choose the best or show favoritism, He simply choses all
that will call on Him. Out of pure love God has chosen us to do wonderful
things, and it doesn’t matter if we are the last one to be picked by our peers
or anyone else, we have the assurance that we are wanted, needed, and chosen by
Him.
“For He chose us in Him before the creation of
the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.” (Ephesians 1:4)
There is something special about everyone, and no matter
what anyone else says, God specially created us and is very proud of who we
are. It doesn’t matter if we are plain, ordinary, everyday people, He doesn’t
require any special talents or requirements. As long as we are sincere, loyal, and
faithful, and offer our heart and soul to Him, He chooses us. He chooses us
because of His grace and love, for salvation and to receive all spiritual
blessings.
He chose us to be His glorious inheritance!
“But we ought to thank God for you, brothers
loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through
the sanctifying work of the spirit and through belief in the truth.” (2
Thessalonians 2:13)

This is exactly what I needed. Thanks for sharing such beautiful thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie; thanks for visiting! I hope these thoughts follow you through a joy filled week! :)
DeleteChosen!! A word I'm carrying all day with me. Chosen....not that I'm better...just that I'm wanted and accepted and belong. Thanks so much Denise for your powerful post. Have a gentle weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's a feeling of comfort and joy for sure! Wishing you a weekend of blessings Nikki!
DeleteLife has a way of pointing out all the negative stuff about ourselves but when I reflect upon the fact the God of the universe has made choice of me, that immediately gives me a confidence boost. Hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo true Wanda; love what you said...and yes it is a confidence boost! I would have a much better weekend if I wasn't stuck in bed sick with strep-ha; however I hope your weekend is full of blessings and joy! :)
DeleteGood post! I am thankful that I was chosen.
ReplyDeleteGood job on those replies too. LOL
Ha ha ha...here is my reply funny lady! :)
DeleteYes Christ created all of us. We are all made in the image of Him, each with the characteristic of free will. If belonging to a faith in Him could be compared to a social club it would be one that is open to all, not "exclusive." Anyone can join it. Yet so many of his human creations choose "religion" or another faith of another kind, or a faith in man, or no faith at all. Some put off the offer of His free gift of salvation for another day but sadly don't live to experience it. Some at one time chose Him but proceeded to live their lives like they never heard of him. Christ was right there lunging forward and down at the edge of a cliff, trying to grab their hand to save them from their fall but they never reached back. When the season of Easter rolls around I think of how lucky we Believers are because we answered his call, we accepted His gift of grace. We were so undeserving but were given a way to avoid the second death all because we simply, sincerely said yes to the Christ.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and this lovely comment; truly a blessing! We are lucky indeed! :)

DeleteDenise, thank you so much for linking up with The Weekend Brew. I think God wants to get our attention, to remind us that we are chosen, no matter what! I am so thankful that He choose me, before the foundation of the world, to be a part of His family. Have a beautiful week.

Cherie
Thanks Cherie; you always put a smile on my face and bless me in big way too friend!
DeleteDenise, this post is very precious to me. When I was very young my then-messed-up-now-beautifully-redeemed parents gave me away several times. I remember how deeply poignant it was when I realized that my Heavenly Father chose me to be His... and would never give me up. I'm secure in His love and so grateful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your beautifully written post.
Blessings to you ~ Mary
Mary, how awesome that your parents lives turned around! So thankful you had our precious Savior's love at a time when you needed it so desperately! Sending you a link I heard just yesterday that reminds me of your story. Blessings!
DeleteDear Denise
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome thought! Ti be the chosen of Almighty God!! Yes, dear one, our Pappa God is the one parent that doesn't have a favorite child. He loves us all equally and gives Himself to each one of His children fully as if each one is His one and only!
Thank you for all the kind comments you have left at my blog. I really appreciate your encouragement.
Much love
Mia
And that is what is so incredibly awesome; He has more than enough love for us all! Thanks Mia; I love and look forward to your comments too! :) Blessings!
DeleteFirst a warm 'thank you'. I appreciate it you take the time to respond to my Dutch postings. And a second 'thank you' for this blog with hopeful words. I wish you a blessed Easter. (Here on Sunday and Monday)
ReplyDeleteI always love to read your posts my friend; they always touch me in a special way. :) I thanks YOU for you sweet words! Happy blessed Easter to you and your family.....
DeleteThanks Betty; very thoughtful and an honor! Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post Denise!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes refer to myself as a child of the King...We are a royal family...can't get better than that!
Too bad schools still lie to children and tell them they come from monkeys...no wonder there is such a problem with low self esteem...I also hate it when churches only preach about how we were sinners...(true) But, now we are being refined in His image day by day!
~God bless, and have a wonderful Ressurection Sunday~ Lisa
I so agree with you Lisa; we ARE saved from our sins through His amazing grace! :) It can't get better than that!! Happy Blessed Easter to you dear friend!
DeleteAwesome post Denise, It is amazing to me that God could choose a sinner like me. When I was His enemy, He pursued me and redeemed me.
ReplyDeleteMay God bless you
Ken
How thankful I am that He chose me Ken; what amazing grace and love! <3 Blessings and love to you this Easter friend!
DeleteWe love Him because He first loved us! How awesome is that, that the Creator of the universe designed and created us for His pleasure, desires to have fellowship with us, chose us, and loves us infinitely! I felt left out a lot of the time in school by the cliques and the popular girls, but now it is such an amazing blessing to be a daughter of the King! Thanks for the beautiful post, & may you have a blessed Easter!
ReplyDeleteLaurie
Amen Laurie; there are no popularity contests with God! :) Blessings to you this Easter too!
DeleteStopping by from DYWW blog hop. I am a follower. You have such a beautiful blog.

Glad you stopped by; thanks Betty! :)
DeleteThanks for the blessing Denise. I really like this fact: "He simply chooses all that will call on Him." I think that once we truly grasp this reality that "He chose us", it really doesn't matter when we are not chosen by others because we expect bias in this world, but when we are chosen by God, we are out of this world, but of Christ. Not perfect, but being perfected by our loving heavenly Father. Thank you for this great reminder to focus on the eternal truth that we are "chosen". Blessings, Brian
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that I have been chosen by the best - THE MOST HIGH GOD!
